The Blockchain is uniquely secure. Blockchain does not exist by itself, but together with a number of IT technologies, usually in a cloud environment. How can we ensure the security both of the Blockchain, but also of all adjacent products that could in a worst-case scenario become springboards for attacks on the Blockchain system?

In this meetup, we will look at secure architectures such as Intel's Softguard Extension (SGX), Trusted Execution environments (TEEs) IBM's LinuxOne, and Samsungs Samsung Knox.

Come and hear three views of Confidential Compute with Blockchain:

October 16 Hacker DoJo

6:00 Arrival, light dinner, mingle
6:15 Introduction to Blockchain and Confidential Compute
6:30 View from Oasis Labs
7:00 View from IBM
7:30 View from Samsung
8:00 Discussion, where do we go from here?

The view from Oasis Labs:

The Oasis Network is a cloud computing platform powered by blockchain, designed from the ground up to provide top-notch security and performance. Leveraging the unique properties of secure enclaves liike SGX, the Oasis Network is able to support privacy-preserving applications like ML training on encrypted data, real-time analytics without exposing the underlying data, and complex data sharing with untrusted third parties.

Oasis Engineer Vishwanath Raman will present on the Oasis Blockchain, the unique work we’re doing with SGX on IBM cloud, and show how your company can get started building on the Oasis Network.

The IBM View:

Underpinned by LinuxONE, IBM Blockchain Platform running Hyperledger Fabric helps enable clients to protect their data, ensure the integrity of the overall network, and meet the stringent security requirements of the financial, health care and government sectors, helping to foster compliance.

IBM Z and LinuxONE can encrypt 100 percent of application, cloud service, and database data without application changes. IBM Z and LinuxONE delivers the scalability to support and enable rapid growth, making IBM Blockchain on IBM Cloud Private running on IBM Z and LinuxONE the best choice for clients looking for the highest levels of security coupled with the ability to meet compliance needs.

The Samsung View:

TEE’s have been around for a while but in many applications and domains that’s simply not good enough. Some years ago, Samsung introduced Samsung Knox as an additional layer of security inside TEE to be certified for military grade security. Now with the advent of blockchain, come Samsung’s hardware based Cold Wallet and KeyStore architectures, raising the bar on ‘Confidential Compute’ yet again. The SDK for this tamper proof technology is coming to market as we speak. Learn how you can leverage this new technology with blockchain to improve security, privacy and confidentiality beyond TEE.
