Details:
The Stanford Student Space Initiative (Stanford SSI) Rockets team competes each year in the Intercollegiate Rocketry Engineering Competition (IREC) against roughly 100 teams from five continents. At IREC 2017, they took first place in the 30,000 foot category, reaching almost exactly that altitude and 1.8 times the speed of sound, while hosting a novel telemetry system.

Members of the team will talk about their rocket, Heart of Steel, and their experience leading up t o IREC and the event itself, as well as their eventual goal of the Karman Line, 100 km above the Earth.

This meeting is sponsored by the Silicon Valley Space Center.
